Alpha Phi Alpha (ΑΦΑ) is the first intercollegiate African-American fraternity founded on the campus of Cornell University in 1906. A fraternity based on service and brotherhood, it also has one of the most solid, innovative, and energetic – down right inspirational step groups. A Phi A. Step.   Seriously. It ook my breath away when I saw Stepping for the first time.

They have a wiki page and a great website for those interested in facts and stats.  But it's the step group that took my breath away.  Not only their stirring perfomance but to hear these young men speak about how the dance connects them to their african heritage and eachother in in a strong bond of fellowship.  As one Alpha Phi Alpha says on this great CurrentTV pod :  " We feel like we are respecting the chain gangs and our african rituals, traditions and ancestors."   With movies like Stomp the Yard, the Step Phenom seem to be growing- and when you see it you'll understand why.  Awesome example of ROOTS REVIVAL.
