Sounds Weird

Adult Swim, the kings of weird late night TV, have launched their annual Singles Program. No, I don’t mean some kind of dating service (although that could be a fun idea!)

It’s free downloads of music singles from artists that are as edgy and experimental as the shows on the TV channel.

“ Over 13 weeks (three more than last year), a host of exclusive tracks will be made available to download for free. Flying Lotus, The Field, Com Truise, Death Grips and Wavves are among the acts to be making new cuts available gratis.”

Many bands get their “big break” thanks to way the network uses music for the interstitials that play between shows.

This is an example of Brand Sanctuary™. What we have here is a very specific demographic of people that tune in for this type of programming.  It’s not a stretch to assume they may enjoy the same kind of boundary stretching music. The Human Truth™ of this wave is: “I count on your brand not to let me down.”™

When Adult Swim gives the stamp of approval and makes a song available for download, fans of the channel will trust that they are probably going to like it and be turned on to the “next big thing”.
