Kellogg’s Twitter Marketing Is Totes Amazeballs

It seems Kellogg’s is a company that knows how to monitor twitter.

The fun started with the lead singer of popular English, alternative, brit pop band The Charlatans, Tim Burgess. Probably while passing time on tour or something similar, he jokingly tweeted that he had invented a new cereal called Totes Amazeballs that was being considered for production by Kellogg’s. Much to everyone’s surprise the company responded by actually producing the cereal.

“It all came about a few weeks ago when Tim tweeted his fans about wanting to create a super cereal called Totes Amazeballs,” said a Kellogg’s spokeswoman. “We really try to make the most of Twitter here at Kellogg’s, and when we saw the tweet, we knew we had to make something special for him.”

However, here’s one of many similar reactions I have heard: “They made a special, one-of-a-kind, Rocky-Road-flavored cereal called Totes Amazeballs just for Tim Burgess because he’s a famous person who made a joke on Twitter. As if the rest of us don’t deserve to pour organic fat-free milk over a mix of Rocky Road cake, Coco Pops, marshmallows, shortbread pieces, and raisins? Listen up Kellogg’s, because I’m only going to say this once: Make more. …And now we wait.”

Like many viral twitter stories like this, I’m sure if the already apparent buzz about it builds to a tipping point, they may actually bring it into broader production!
