I don’t know about you, but I have to respect whatever trees get contorted into Post-it notes, because I use them like crazy. Luckily, 3M has announced that they have received chain-of-custody certification from the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. This means you can keep on posting them to your hearts content and not feel awful about it. I find this interesting simply because it seems like such a far off idea to me, a company that makes tons of paper products and other possible environmental frownie faces that people use on the whim, but it just goes to show you that it can be done. The paper being used for the Post-it products can be traced from pad to forest, ensuring that it’s a well managed forest that gets replanted. As the ideas behind Green Hot™ continue to grow and become more massive and impactful for companies, we just have to remember to keep our eyes on the mass amount of greenwashing going on at the same time. But in situations like this, I’ll give them a thumbs-up for their effort. A green one.
