The biggest kid on the block decided they wanted a virtual 3D world of their own. Google has launched Lively and they hope it will have more appeal than Second Life because, in usual style, it’s free and is not tied to any specific website. Users can create a customized avatar, upload personal video, image, and music content to pimp out their “room” in SIM style and conduct all of the normal chatting and other social networking services typical of this growing class of online interface. It isn’t innovative, but it was probably inevitable.
